If you were a kid of the 80’s and 90’s, you know all about ooze and slime. Almost every toy-line had action figures that had a slime action feature. MOTU had the Slime Pit, The Real Ghostbusters had the Ectoplasm that you could pour into the Firehouse playset or ghosts who slimed you and TMNT had Mutagen Ooze. Kids got slimed live on television on Nickelodeon, who also sold Gak. In recent years we have seen a resurgence of slime in modern kids toy offerings. I can remember telling my daughter “this stuff was invented when I was a kid”. We went down memory lane of all my childhood toys that incorporated slime into play. But current slime offerings seem to be stand alone containers of slime, or DIY/ make your own slime kits. As responsible parents, I think we should whip out the vintage MOTU Slime Pits and Ghostbusters Firehouses and show our kids how to really incorporate slime into play!
